Refuse Dump

Takes most types of refuse, including furniture and builders waste. Dumping of asbestos and toxic waste is not allowed.

Noise pollution

24-hour call out service. Call for advice about what level of noise is acceptable in your neighbourhood, including builders, pubs and clubs, as well noise from neighbours. The Noise Team can take disciplinary action, such as heavy fines or confiscation of equipment.

Pest Control

Southwark no longer runs a pest control service. If you own the house you live in and have problems with rats or other pests check your local directory for private companies. If you live in rented accommodation, your landlord is responsible for pest control but, if you experience problems, contact the Public Protection Unit on this number.

Street Lights

Call this number to report faulty street lights. The council is responsible for the bulbs and the metal poles of street lights. Any electrical faults have to be referred to the Electricity Company and take longer to fix so, in some cases, some lights with faults will not be fixed immediately.
