Obituary - Gladys & Sid Gillham

Farewell to Gladys and Sid Gillham of 56 Trinity Church Square, who died at the end of 2004, two lovely people I had the privilege to know for many years.

Sid lived in the square nearly all his life. His mother lived in No 54 and then No 65. When Sid married Gladys over 50 years ago, they moved into the second floor of No 56, with his sister and her husband on the first floor, paying 2.50 per week rent.

Some of you will remember them walking round the Square arm in arm - you never saw one without the other. Both in their 80s and in ill health, but never complaining, they would say "We don't know who's holding who up". I called them 'the bookends' and often wondered how one would manage without the other. So it was ironic that they died on the same day.
Farewell to a double act.
